What changes the price
- Household: individual, individual + spouse, individual + child(ren), or family.
- Age of the primary member: two bands, 18–45 and 46–64.
- Tobacco use: tobacco users pay about $50 a month more.
- Unshared amount: $2,500 or $5,000. This is what you pay toward a large eligible bill before ShareWELL members share the rest.
Plans aren't available to people 65 or older; at that age Medicare is the better fit.
An example
A 38-year-old self-employed designer chooses the $5,000 unshared amount and pays $315 a month. A sick visit costs a set copay. A telehealth visit at 2 a.m. costs nothing. If she has an $18,500 ER visit, she pays her $5,000 unshared amount and the eligible remainder is shared by the community. With the $2,500 option, she'd pay $360 a month and $2,500 of that bill.
